GOLF & CURLING MANAGER FOR YARMOUTH GOLF & CURLING CENTRE,

Nestled in the heart of Yarmouth, Yarmouth Golf and Curling Centre is a vibrant hub for golf and curling enthusiast of all ages. The General Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Yarmouth Golf & Curling Centre, ensuring exceptional service, smooth coordination across departments, and a welcoming environment for members and guests. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for both golf and curling. The General Manager is a key resource in the board of Directors development of new policies and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Golf Operations:

  • Collaborate closely with the Superintendent and Pro Shop Manager to coordinate course maintenance, scheduling, inventory control and bar operations

  • Lead and manage staff to ensure coverage, performance and adherence to service standards

  • Address member and guest concerns promptly and professionally, maintaining a high standard of hospitality

  • Design and implement engaging golf programs, clinics, and junior initiatives to promote engagement and skill development


Curling Operations:

  • Work closely with the ice technician to ensure proper ice preparation and maintenance for optimal playing conditions

  • Schedule and manage curling leagues, bonspiels, and special events, ensuring smooth execution and member satisfaction

  • Promote curling programs for all skill levels, including youth, seniors, and beginners

  • Respond to inquiries regarding leagues, events, equipment, and general concerns with professionalism and efficiency

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation of all curling facilities to ensure a welcoming and secure environment.

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant safety protocols and sport regulations


Staff & Facility Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal and year-round staff

  • Manage budgets, payroll, and financial reporting in collaboration with the Board

  • Oversee clubhouse operations, including food & beverage services and rentals

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, health and safety standards, and industry best practices


Community Engagement & Marketing:

  • Act as a key ambassador for the club within the local community

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve organizational plans, improve club performance, grow membership and increase participation through various marketing channels

  • Foster relationships with sponsors, vendors, and local organizations


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in golf and/or curling facility management, or post-secondary education in a related field such as golf management, business, hospitality or sports and leisure management

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of sport-specific operations, including ice maintenance and golf course logistics

  • Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and reporting

  • Proficiency in scheduling software, POS systems, and basic office tools

  • CPR/First Aid certification and Smart Serve (or equivalent) preferred
