Firstly, I would like to say goodbye to old man winter. It was a rough one for our area and one like we haven’t seen around here for a while. Here’s hoping for an early spring with some sunshine and warmer temperatures.

The curling season had a rough start with a major breakdown, but thanks to the curling executive as well as Paul and his crew of volunteers for all their hard work to turn the season around. The two major bonspiels and the closing fun day were a great success again this year. The Tuesday Learn to Curl Program was also a success, and we continue to add new members to the curling club. We’ve seen an influx of golfers trying curling over the past couple of years, which has been great to see and has allowed members to enjoy the club year-round.

The golf season is just around the corner and we are looking forward to another successful and fun-filled season. We have many course improvements planned this year, as we continue to upgrade and improve things like tees, the driving range, drainage, water systems, and our greens. We are also still working on our Future Planning Upgrade to take care of our building, inside and out, for years to come.

Warren and the Galley South team are back this season. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates, including their opening date.

As Manager, I’m looking forward to working with all the staff again this year, as well as planning for the future with the Board of Directors. Let’s make 2025–26 the best season yet for YGCC.

Sincerely,
George Watkins
